The winner of the “Take me on a Vacation” prompt is Scott Leonardi and his stellar piece, “Liquid Sunshine.”
I picked this piece because it was cohesive, had good imagery, was light, airy, fun, symbolic and it had some deep, thought-provoking statements in it. It was certainly a trip. lol ;) It brought me back to my Acid days. I completely related to the line about staring at flowers for an eternity.
The exact line I’m referring to is: “It feels like an honor to stare at a flower until you die.”
I once dropped a few gel tabs and stared at a flower for a really long time because it sparkled at me. The flower was glittering and sparkling up at me. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. No one else could see what I was seeing, simply because they didn’t take the drug too. I loved how everything felt like it was breathing. As if I could see the very essence of life in everything.
“There’s a moment, while you’re floating on your back upon a gelatin prism. Staring up at an orchestra of living cloud formations, that you feel so at peace with yourself and so content with the moment, you actually feel an inner ripple of disappointment that you’re unable to literally melt into the sea. If only you could disintegrate right then and there. To return your form to the tides that shaped your bones and crafted the very structure of your cells. If only you could offer your very being to be swallowed by the Great Shaper. It’s the least you could do to say thanks.”
I love these lines…they kinda echo what I said about how when you are tripping, you can see things breathing, moving, being alive. And it calls to you. This life force calls to some and those who hear it, desire to become one with it.
Scott’s story took me back to better days. It made me feel, remember, and forget about my problems for a moment. Bravo Scott…I will put your name in the hat for the Advertising on Facebook prize!
